Coveted Jewel was originally introduced in the Commander 2018 set, designed as a high-risk, high-reward artifact that incentivizes complex multiplayer politics. By drawing three cards and adding three mana of any color upon entry, it provides a powerful immediate advantage, but the mechanic of passing control to the player who deals combat damage to its owner forces the wielder to carefully manage their board state to avoid handing such a potent resource to an opponent.

The version from the Bloomburrow Commander release retains the card's iconic mechanical identity while featuring new artistic direction consistent with the whimsical, woodland-fantasy aesthetic of the plane. Artists contributing to the Bloomburrow set were tasked with translating the game's established mechanical utility into the storybook-inspired visual language of the set, emphasizing themes of nature and scale that define the Bloomburrow aesthetic.
