Creature Bond

Creature Bond from the Summer Magic set, also known as the Edgar set, represents one of the most enigmatic chapters in the history of Magic: The Gathering. Produced in 1994, this limited print run was intended as a corrected version of the Revised Edition, designed to fix color saturation issues and card errors found in the earlier base set. However, a printing error involving a darkened back design led to the entire run being pulled from general distribution, with only a small number of cards salvaged for promotional use.

The card features the original illustration by Dan Frazier, whose work is iconic for defining the aesthetic of the game's early years. Frazier utilized a minimalist, fantasy-driven style that focused on the mystical interaction between creatures, aiming to capture the flavor of gameplay mechanics through classic artistic fantasy tropes. While the card itself is mechanically standard, its status within the Edgar set has transformed it into a prized artifact for serious collectors, serving as a physical testament to the experimental production period of the mid-1990s.
