Crib Swap

Crib Swap was originally printed as a rare card in the Lorwyn set, released in 2007 as part of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Set in a plane inspired by Celtic mythology and folklore, the card was designed to function within the set's tribal mechanics, specifically interacting with the Changeling ability which allowed creatures to count as every creature type simultaneously. Its inclusion in 'The List,' a curated collection of legacy cards randomly inserted into modern booster packs, served as a tribute to the flavor and mechanical complexity of the original Lorwyn release.

The card features an illustration by Nils Hamm, who was commissioned to capture the whimsical and slightly unsettling nature of the kithkin and changeling societies. Hamm utilized a muted, earthy color palette to reflect the pastoral yet eerie atmosphere of the set, aiming to visually represent the concept of a magical substitution.
