Where it came from
Current Curriculum was released as part of the Alchemy: Lorwyn Eclipsed set, a digital-only expansion for the Magic: The Gathering Arena platform. It draws its thematic inspiration from the original 2007 Lorwyn block, reimagining the whimsical and melancholic folklore-inspired plane through the lens of modern digital mechanics that were not possible in traditional paper sets.
The card’s design leverages the unique capabilities of digital play, utilizing keywords and effects that track state changes within the game’s software engine. It reflects the broader design philosophy of the Alchemy format, which seeks to revitalize older flavor profiles by introducing balance adjustments and new tactical permutations that appeal to players engaged in the high-frequency environment of digital card gaming.
