Cyclonic Rift

Cyclonic Rift first debuted in the 2012 Magic: The Gathering set Return to Ravnica, designed as a blue instant that scales in power depending on whether it is cast for its normal cost or its overload cost. It quickly became a staple of the Commander format due to its ability to clear the board of non-land permanents while leaving the caster's own assets untouched, a design choice that solidified its reputation as one of the most efficient and feared control spells in the game's history.

The Ravnica Remastered version, released in early 2024, features a thematic aesthetic consistent with the plane of Ravnica, a cityscape defined by its ten competing guilds. While the mechanical function remains identical to the original printing, this specific iteration serves as a curated retrospective of the plane's history, utilizing the frame and artistic style characteristic of the Remastered set's effort to highlight the most impactful cards from the history of the block.
