Where it came from
Dalkovan Encampment was released as part of the Tarkir: Dragonstorm promotional series, a set of alternate-art cards distributed through Wizards of the Coast organized play events. The card draws upon the lore of the Tarkir plane, which is defined by its shifting timelines and dragon-centric culture, serving as a tactical landscape piece within the broader Magic: The Gathering gameplay framework.
The art reflects the rugged, nomadic aesthetic characteristic of the Mardu Horde, emphasizing the fortification of temporary settlements within a harsh environment. While part of a specialized promotional run, the card was received as a functional, if niche, addition to collection binders, appreciated primarily by players who value the thematic consistency of the Tarkir block and the scarcity inherent in promotional card printings.
