Where it came from
Dalkovan Encampment was released as part of the Tarkir: Dragonstorm promotional set, a series of cards distributed through Magic: The Gathering organized play events during the Khans of Tarkir block. This specific version features unique promotional foiling and art treatments designed to reward participants in localized tournament scenes, reflecting the game's emphasis on communal play and thematic expansion of the plane of Tarkir.
The card's design and illustration reflect the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Tarkir setting, emphasizing the rugged, militaristic nature of the encampments central to the world's warring clans. Artists working on the Dragonstorm series were tasked with capturing the tension of a world undergoing a temporal shift, using bold compositions and rich color palettes to distinguish these promotional versions from their standard expansion counterparts.
