Darkwater Catacombs

Darkwater Catacombs was first released in the 2002 Odyssey expansion before being reprinted in the Commander 2019 preconstructed deck titled Merciless Rage. As a land card that produces both blue and black mana, it belongs to a cycle of filter lands designed to assist players in managing multi-color mana bases. The design intent behind these lands was to offer strategic flexibility, allowing players to exchange colorless mana for specific colored mana combinations, a mechanic that has remained a staple in Magic: The Gathering deck-building for decades.

The artwork for this particular printing was illustrated by Monte Michael Moore.
