Where it came from
Day of Destiny was originally printed in the 2004 Champions of Kamigawa expansion, designed to support the set's focus on legendary creatures and the spirits of the Shinto-inspired plane. The card was created as an enchantment that provides a significant power and toughness boost to all legendary creatures on the battlefield, reflecting the mechanical importance of heroes within the Kamigawa setting.
This specific version, numbered 99, appeared in the 2022 Dominaria United Commander set. The reprinting served to maintain synergy for the 'Legends' theme prevalent throughout the Dominaria United product line, which revisited the game's earliest narrative settings. The artwork maintains the high-fantasy aesthetic consistent with Magic: The Gathering’s long-standing visual traditions, ensuring that the card remains a functional and thematic anchor for decks built around legendary commanders.
