Deep Analysis // Deep Analysis

Deep Analysis first appeared in the Judgment expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2002. Designed as a sorcery with the flashback mechanic, it was intended to provide card advantage by allowing players to draw two cards for a relatively low mana cost, with the option to cast it again from the graveyard later in the game. It became a staple in control decks due to its efficiency and late-game utility.

The Commander Masters Art Series version features the original illustration by Scott M. Fischer. His style for this piece leaned into the surreal, atmospheric quality common in early 2000s fantasy art, emphasizing the intellectual and somewhat mystical nature of the spell. When this card was revisited for the 2023 Commander Masters set, Wizards of the Coast released it as an art card, removing the game text to highlight the integrity of the original painting.
