Demon's Horn

The Demon's Horn originated as a card in the Alpha set of Magic: The Gathering, released in 1993, and was included as a reprint in the Ninth Edition core set in 2005. It belongs to a cycle of five artifacts, each tied to a specific color of mana, designed to provide minor life gain whenever a spell of that color is played. These cards were intended to be foundational pieces, particularly for beginners learning the game's mechanics and the value of incremental advantage.

For the Ninth Edition printing, artist Alan Pollack provided a new illustration for the card, moving away from the original minimalist aesthetic toward a more dynamic, textured interpretation of the relic. Pollack’s design emphasizes the macabre and supernatural nature of the object, portraying it as a sinister, ornate horn. Upon its re-release, the card was received as a functional staple for casual play, though it remained largely absent from competitive tournament decks due to the relatively low impact of its life-gain effect.
