Deserted Beach

Deserted Beach was released in 2021 as part of the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This card, a dual land capable of producing either white or blue mana, is designed to enter the battlefield tapped unless the player controls two or more other lands, encouraging strategic mid-game deployment. The 'Midnight Hunt' set drew heavy thematic inspiration from gothic horror and classic werewolf folklore, emphasizing a cycle of day and night within its gameplay mechanics.

The illustrative work for this specific promo version was crafted to evoke the eerie, desolate atmosphere of Innistrad’s coastal regions. Artists tasked with the Innistrad cycle often aim to balance functional clarity for gameplay with the somber, mist-laden aesthetic defining the plane. As a promo variant, this iteration was distributed through specific organized play channels and promotional events, serving as a functional collectible that highlights the expansion's grim, seasonal landscape.
