Provenance

Where it came from

Devil K. Nevil was released in 2022 as part of Unfinity, the fourth Un-set in the long-running Magic: The Gathering franchise. Designed by Wizards of the Coast, this expansion was conceived to explore the intersection of science fiction aesthetics and the whimsical, rule-bending nature typical of the series' silver-bordered sets. The card reflects the set's thematic commitment to an interstellar carnival setting, utilizing humor and interactive mechanics that differ from standard, tournament-legal gameplay.

The artwork for this card was created by illustrative artist David Rapoza, who captured the character as a daring, daredevil imp inspired by classic 1970s stunt performers. The visual design leans into the high-energy, tongue-in-cheek spirit of the Unfinity collection, emphasizing personality and narrative flavor over traditional tactical utility. Upon its release, it was well-received by players who appreciated the lighthearted art style and the thematic nod to daredevil iconography within the Magic multiverse.
