Where it came from
Dig Site Inventory was released in 2021 as part of the Strixhaven: School of Mages Art Series, a collection of cards designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the set. These cards serve as high-quality, frame-less reproductions of the original artwork commissioned for the main Magic: The Gathering expansion, allowing collectors to appreciate the visual world-building of the Arcavios plane without the gameplay text that typically accompanies standard cards.
The illustration was crafted by artist Lie Setiawan, who focused on capturing the archeological atmosphere of Strixhaven's ancient archives. The design choice emphasizes the tactile details of the magical artifacts and academic tools scattered across the dig site, reflecting the scholarly yet adventurous tone of the Lorehold College. The piece was well-received by fans for its intricate composition and thematic depth, solidifying its place as a standout entry in the Art Series subset.
