Strixhaven Skycoach // Strixhaven Skycoach

The Strixhaven Skycoach card originates from the Secrets of Strixhaven Art Series, a specialized subset released alongside the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set, Strixhaven: School of Mages. This series was designed to showcase the vivid world-building of the game’s premier magical university, featuring oversized, borderless art cards that strip away the traditional gameplay text to highlight the aesthetic identity of the setting. The inclusion of the Skycoach highlights the whimsical, magi-tech transportation used by students to navigate the sprawling campus.

The illustration for this card was crafted by artist Caio Monteiro, who sought to capture the blend of academic elegance and magical utility central to the Strixhaven aesthetic. The design emphasizes the flying vehicle’s distinct architectural style, incorporating the school's signature motifs and color palette. Upon its release, the Art Series was received warmly by collectors and lore enthusiasts, who valued the opportunity to engage with the set’s environmental storytelling without the interference of frame elements found on standard playing cards.
