Diligent Farmhand

Diligent Farmhand was originally released in the 2001 Odyssey expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed as a thematic element of the set's graveyard-focused mechanics, the card depicts a humble laborer working the land of Otaria. The illustration by Greg Hildebrandt captures the grounded, rustic aesthetic that defined the early visual language of the Odyssey block, emphasizing the connection between the player's mana base and the cycle of death and rebirth central to the set's narrative.

As part of The List—a curated selection of reprints that appear in Set Boosters—this version of Diligent Farmhand serves as a nod to the game's long-standing history. By including cards from over two decades of design, the developers aim to provide players with nostalgic access to cards that were foundational to specific limited environments. The card remains a notable example of early color-shifted mana fixing and self-sacrifice mechanics, reflecting the tactical experimentation characteristic of the Odyssey era.
