Where it came from
The Dimir Signet was originally introduced in the 2005 Magic: The Gathering set Ravnica: City of Guilds, serving as a foundational artifact for players aligned with House Dimir, the guild of secrets and espionage. It was designed to facilitate mana ramp and color fixing, mechanical necessities for the complex, multi-colored strategies encouraged by the Ravnica block’s guild-focused gameplay.
This specific iteration appears in the 2024 Ravnica Remastered set, which functions as a curated retrospective of the plane's history. The art maintains the iconic aesthetic of the guild, utilizing the shadowy, ink-infused motifs associated with the Dimir. As a functional reprint, it reflects the enduring utility of the original design, which remains a staple in casual Commander decks for its efficiency in providing both blue and black mana.
