Where it came from
The 'Dinosaur // Dinosaur' card is part of the Art Series released in late 2023 alongside the 'The Lost Caverns of Ixalan' set for Magic: The Gathering. These specialized cards were designed to highlight the illustrative work behind the main set's creature designs, featuring borderless, high-quality prints of the artwork on the front, while the back remains intentionally blank or features branding, diverging from traditional game-playable cards.
The artwork for this specific piece focuses on the prehistoric, mesozoic-inspired aesthetic central to the Ixalan plane. It was crafted by the artist known as Games Workshop, who was tasked with emphasizing the imposing scale and naturalistic detail of the dinosaur creature type. Upon its release, the card was received as a sought-after collectible by enthusiasts of the game's creature-centric lore and art style.
