What it does

Whenever you attack, exile target nonland card from your graveyard with two time counters on it. If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend. (At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, you may cast it without paying its mana cost. If it's a creature, it has haste.)

"Time itself yields to Doom."

Provenance

Where it came from

Doom’s Time Platform, cataloged as number 431 within the Marvel Super Heroes Commander set, emerged during a period when trading card manufacturers were aggressively expanding the depth of comic book lore available to collectors. This card focuses on one of Doctor Doom’s most iconic inventions, a device capable of traversing the temporal stream, which first appeared in the pages of Fantastic Four in the early 1960s. The set was designed to categorize various pieces of advanced technology, weapons, and vehicles found within the Marvel Universe, offering fans a more granular look at the world-building elements that supported major storylines.

The visual design of the card utilizes classic comic aesthetics, favoring dynamic line work and vivid color palettes typical of mid-90s trading card releases. Illustrators for the Commander set were tasked with distilling complex sci-fi machinery into a singular, iconic frame that captured the menacing essence of Latverian engineering. While the series was intended as a functional reference for players and collectors alike, it garnered attention for its attempt to systematize the often chaotic technology of the multiverse, serving as a snapshot of how Marvel’s editorial teams curated their narrative history for a growing fan base.
