Where it came from
Double Vision was originally released as a rare enchantment in the Core Set 2021 expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed to mirror the spell-casting mechanics of the game by allowing players to copy their first instant or sorcery spell each turn. The promo version, collector number 142p, features distinct alternate art that highlights the card's theme of magical duplication, consistent with the set's focus on high-impact, flavorful enchantments.
The illustration for this promo version was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, who utilized a vibrant, chaotic aesthetic to represent the splitting of reality and magical energy. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players focusing on red-based spell-slinging archetypes, as it provided a powerful engine for increasing damage output and utility, solidifying its place in both casual commander play and various constructed formats.
