Drag Under

Drag Under was originally released as part of the Amonkhet set in 2017 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed as a common-rarity sorcery meant to reflect the thematic dangers of the set's desert-themed plane, specifically the threat posed by the shifting sands and the lurking horrors beneath them. The card was crafted to provide players with a functional removal spell that mirrored the flavor of being pulled into a subterranean trap.

The card’s illustration was created by artist Mathias Kollros, who was tasked with visualizing the visceral moment of a character being overwhelmed by the environment. The artwork was well-received for its clear depiction of the card's mechanic, effectively communicating the sense of peril central to the Amonkhet narrative. Later, the card was included in The List, a curated selection of reprints integrated into set boosters, which served to reintroduce older mechanical staples to newer players while maintaining the aesthetic identity of the original release.
