Dragon Fodder

Dragon Fodder was originally introduced as a common red sorcery in the Shards of Alara set, designed to provide efficient token generation for aggressive strategies. The card creates two 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens, a staple effect in Magic: The Gathering that serves as both battlefield presence and utility for sacrifice-based mechanics. Its recurring presence in supplemental sets reflects its role as a fundamental building block for red-aligned decks, balancing utility with a flavor that captures the chaotic essence of goblin swarms.

The Jumpstart 2022 printing features updated art by Ilse Gort, who leaned into the frenetic and whimsical nature of the goblin tribe. This version maintains the iconic function of the original design while providing a refreshed visual identity suited for the pack-based, randomized play style of the Jumpstart series. Like many cards in this set, the reprinting aims to ensure accessibility for new players while offering stylistic variety for those familiar with the game's long-standing creature archetypes.
