What it does
Until end of turn, target creature gets +2/+0 and gains "When this creature dies, return it to the battlefield under its owner's control."
It began as a flavor on the tongue, like a bloody morsel of roast boar—but soon the power was a conflagration in her veins.

Where it came from
Demonic Gifts, appearing in the Jumpstart 2022 set as card number 398, is a reprint of the card originally debuted in the Kaldheim expansion. It serves as a black-aligned utility spell that reflects the set's design philosophy of facilitating quick, synergistic gameplay. By allowing players to return a creature from their graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter at the cost of sacrificing a creature, it reinforces the recurring themes of death and rebirth central to black mana in the Magic: The Gathering universe.
The artwork for this particular printing was illustrated by Campbell White, who focused on the visceral, dark aesthetic associated with the card's mechanics. The illustration captures the grim, transactional nature of demonic bargains within the game's lore. Since its introduction, the card has been received as a functional tool for decks focused on sacrifice triggers, appreciated by players for its ability to generate value while simultaneously providing a method to trigger 'dies' effects in a fast-paced draft environment.
