Provenance

Where it came from

The Dragon Illusion token was released in 2021 as part of the expansion set Innistrad: Crimson Vow for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Tokens in this set were designed to represent auxiliary creatures summoned by specific spells or abilities during gameplay, serving as visual reminders of board states rather than playable cards within a main deck.

The artwork for this token was created by illustrator Svetlin Velinov, who has contributed extensive art to the Magic: The Gathering franchise. The design emphasizes the ethereal and shifting nature of an illusion, utilizing the gothic horror aesthetic characteristic of the Innistrad plane while maintaining the distinct visual clarity required for a token card to be easily identifiable during fast-paced matches.
