Dwarven Hammer

Dwarven Hammer was released in 2021 as part of the Kaldheim expansion for Magic: The Gathering, a set heavily inspired by Norse mythology and the harsh, snowy landscapes associated with the plane of Kaldheim. Mechanically designed to emphasize the industrious and martial nature of the dwarves within this setting, the card serves as an Equipment that highlights the flavor of forging weapons to empower creatures on the battlefield. It fits into the broader tribal identity of the dwarves in this expansion, who are depicted as master smiths living in the mountain realm of Axgard.

The card was illustrated by the artist Ilse Gort, who captured the heavy, ornate aesthetic of dwarven craftsmanship. The art focuses on the hammer itself, grounding it in the visual language of the set through glowing runes and metallic textures that reflect the fires of a forge. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its efficiency in Limited formats and its thematic resonance, becoming a staple tool for red-white equipment-based strategies where the ability to create creature tokens provides significant utility.
