Provenance

Where it came from

Edge of the Divinity was released in 2008 as part of the Eventide set, the second expansion in the Shadowmoor block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to explore the concept of hybrid mana and the transition from light to dark, featuring cards that leveraged both white and black mana to emphasize themes of duality and celestial corruption.

The card was illustrated by artist Christopher Moeller, who employed his signature style to depict the ethereal and slightly unsettling aesthetic required by the set's setting. The artwork conveys the transition between divine influence and decay, a visual hallmark of the Eventide expansion which sought to distance itself from the brighter tone of the preceding Shadowmoor set.
