Electrostatic Infantry // Electrostatic Infantry

The Electrostatic Infantry card was released in 2022 as part of the Dominaria United Art Series, a specialized subset of the broader Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These cards are distinct in their presentation, featuring the card's original commissioned artwork on the front without the traditional game rules or border text, effectively functioning as a high-quality collectible art print. This set was designed to celebrate the return to the iconic Dominaria plane, a setting that has served as the narrative foundation for much of the game's long history.

The artwork for this specific piece was crafted by illustrator Johan Grenier. Known for a dynamic, energetic style that emphasizes lighting and motion, Grenier was tasked with visualizing the Electrostatic Infantry as a manifestation of the Izzet League's volatile and arcane warfare. The illustration captures the essence of a magically enhanced soldier channeling raw elemental energy, a hallmark of the faction's aesthetic. Upon its release, the card was well-received by collectors who appreciate the ability to view the technical artistry of the game's expansive card library without the clutter of gameplay mechanics.
