What it does
Whenever you scry, the next instant or sorcery spell you cast this turn costs X mana less to cast, where X is the number of cards looked at while scrying this way.
+2: Draw a card, then scry 2.
−3: Exile the top card of your library. Create a number of 1/1 blue Faerie Dragon creature tokens with flying equal to that card's mana value.
Elminster can be your commander.

Where it came from
The Elminster card from the Battle for Baldur's Gate set was released in 2022 as part of the Magic: The Gathering crossover with Dungeons & Dragons. Designed to represent the iconic wizard from the Forgotten Realms setting, this specific variant features stylized, borderless art intended to capture the character's ancient and enigmatic persona. It was distributed primarily through promotional channels during the set's launch cycle to highlight the collaboration between these two legendary gaming franchises.
The artwork was commissioned to lean into a fantastical, ethereal aesthetic, moving away from traditional card frames to emphasize the character's legendary status within lore. While the mechanical design focuses on scrying and creating creature tokens, the visual presentation was received by players as a respectful homage to the classic wizard archetype, effectively bridging the gap between tabletop role-playing enthusiasts and competitive card gamers.
