Elven Cache

Elven Cache was released in 1997 as part of the Portal: Three Kingdoms set. This expansion was designed specifically for the Asian market, intended to introduce new players to Magic: The Gathering through simplified rules and a distinct flavor rooted in the 14th-century Chinese historical epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The set was not originally released in North America, making early copies relatively difficult to acquire for western collectors.

The card features artwork by Yi Feng, a prolific illustrator for the set who contributed numerous pieces capturing the period-specific aesthetic. The design is a staple green sorcery that allows a player to return a card from their graveyard to their hand, a common functional effect in the game. While the set was initially viewed as an experimental product with limited mechanical complexity, it has since become highly sought after by collectors for its unique cultural iconography and relatively small print run.
