The card was conceived to mechanically represent a knight's suit of armor that draws its power directly from the wielder's hand of cards, effectively scaling in strength based on the player's resources. The version from the 2001 Arena League is a promotional release distributed as a participation reward for local tournament play. The Arena League program was designed to encourage consistent attendance at local game stores by awarding unique, border-altered, or alternate-art promotional cards to players. This specific release featured the original artwork by Giancola but included the distinct Arena League expansion symbol, marking it as a collectible piece intended to incentivize the competitive community during the turn of the millennium.
