Where it came from
Enduring Ideal was originally printed in the 2005 Saviors of Kamigawa expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed by the game's development team to offer a powerful, late-game enchantment-based strategy. The card’s complex mechanics, which prevent players from casting spells from their hand in exchange for tutoring enchantments from the library, reflect the set's thematic focus on hand size and resource management.
The Secret Lair Drop version, numbered 887, was released as part of a curated series by Wizards of the Coast. Featuring distinctive, artist-driven aesthetics typical of the Secret Lair line, this specific printing serves to provide collectors with a stylized, premium alternative to the card’s original illustrative identity. Like other entries in the series, it was received as a bridge between competitive utility and collectible art.
