Enduring Sliver // Enduring Sliver

The Enduring Sliver art card was released as part of the Modern Horizons Art Series, a collection introduced by Wizards of the Coast to celebrate the aesthetic direction of their supplemental Magic: The Gathering sets. This specific card represents the creature Enduring Sliver, a callback to the iconic, hive-minded Sliver archetype first introduced in the 1997 Tempest expansion. The series was designed to highlight the high-fidelity, standalone illustrations that characterize modern card design, allowing players to view the artwork without the overlaid text frames.

The illustration for this piece was crafted by artist Lie Setiawan, whose work on this set emphasizes the alien, segmented anatomy of the Sliver species while integrating an ethereal, glowing quality. The art was commissioned to evoke a sense of evolutionary persistence, fitting the card's function of granting static abilities to its kin. Upon its release, the Modern Horizons Art Series was well received by the community for providing a premium, gallery-style look at the complex world-building and character design that fuels the game’s visual identity.
