Enshrouding Mist

Enshrouding Mist was released in July 2015 as part of the Magic Origins expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set was designed as a bridge between the core game mechanics and the narrative backstories of five key Planeswalker characters, serving as a farewell to the traditional core set structure. The card itself represents a defensive spell utilized by the characters during their origin stories, emphasizing the themes of protection and combat prowess common to white-aligned magic.

The card’s illustration was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, who has contributed extensively to the game's visual identity. Kieryluk was tasked with capturing the ethereal, protective quality of the mist while maintaining the clear visual language required for a common-rarity spell. The art was well-received by players for its atmospheric rendering of light and texture, and the card itself became a standard utility piece in Limited formats where its ability to grant a temporary combat boost and damage prevention provided a reliable tactical edge.
