Escape Artist was released in 2001 as part of the Odyssey expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, this set was notable for introducing the flashback mechanic, which allowed players to cast spells from their graveyard, shifting the game's strategic focus toward managing resources in the discard pile.
