Etali, Primal Conqueror // Etali, Primal Conqueror

Etali, Primal Conqueror originated as a centerpiece card in the March of the Machine set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2023. As a legendary Elder Dinosaur from the plane of Ixalan, the character was envisioned as a manifestation of the set's central conflict involving the Phyrexians' multiversal invasion. The design reflects the creature's immense power, utilizing a double-faced transforming mechanic that allows it to flip into a formidable blight-themed form, capturing the narrative arc of the character being corrupted by Phyrexian influence.

The March of the Machine Art Series consists of special commemorative cards that highlight the original illustrations used for the main set. This specific card, number 31 in the series, showcases the vibrant and ferocious digital artistry typical of contemporary Magic: The Gathering creature design. These versions were released as promotional collector items, intentionally devoid of game text on the card face to shift the focus entirely onto the illustrative work and the visual storytelling of the artist who captured Etali’s dramatic transformation.
