Where it came from
Eternity Snare was released in 2006 as part of the Magic: The Gathering set Time Spiral. The set was designed to be a love letter to the game's long history, heavily utilizing mechanics and themes from its early years. This specific card was crafted as a common-rarity enchantment, serving as a functional piece of removal designed to help players navigate the set's complex board states.
The card features artwork by Christopher Moeller, who was tasked with visualizing the temporal, trap-like nature of the spell. His design emphasizes the swirling, ethereal qualities of the Time Spiral block, where reality was portrayed as fracturing. Upon release, it was received as a straightforward, utility-focused card that provided essential pacing for Limited formats, reflecting the era's focus on strategic deck construction.
