What it does
When this enchantment enters, choose two target creatures. For as long as this enchantment remains on the battlefield, exchange the text boxes of those creatures.
Before criticizing, walk a mile (about 1.6 kilometers) in their head. That way, when you do, you're a mile away and you have their head.

Where it came from
Exchange of Words originated in the Unstable expansion, a set released by Wizards of the Coast in 2017. As part of a silver-bordered product line, it was designed to explore non-traditional mechanics and humor, pushing the boundaries of standard game rules. The card allows players to switch their text boxes, creating chaotic and often comedic interactions that define the set's intent to prioritize fun over competitive rigidity.
The card was illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, who aimed to capture the surreal and whimsical nature of the Un-sets. By depicting two characters physically swapping their internal narrative or speech capabilities, the artwork visualizes the card's mechanical effect. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of casual play for its high-variance, social nature, eventually being included in The List to bring unique mechanics from the set's history into wider availability.
