Where it came from
Expedited Inheritance was released in 2024 as part of the Murders at Karlov Manor set for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to fit within the set's top-down murder mystery theme, drawing inspiration from classic whodunit tropes such as the frantic reading of a last will and testament to drive the narrative tension of the Ravnica plane.
The art and mechanics were crafted to evoke the urgency of a sudden windfall, serving as a red-aligned enchantment that rewards players for sacrificing creatures to gain temporary mana advantage. It was received by the community as a flavor-forward utility piece that successfully captures the chaotic atmosphere of the detective-themed expansion.
