Where it came from
Expedited Inheritance was released as part of the promotional suite for the 2024 Magic: The Gathering expansion, Murders at Karlov Manor. The set draws heavy aesthetic and mechanical inspiration from classic detective fiction and noir tropes, centering on a high-stakes murder mystery within the plane of Ravnica. This specific card was distributed through various organized play channels, intended to reward participants with a variant art style that leans into the set's gothic, investigative atmosphere.
The card features art designed to reflect the thematic preoccupation with legacy and greed central to the Karlov Manor narrative. The visual direction emphasizes sharp, dramatic lighting and the opulence characteristic of the Orzhov Syndicate, the guild most associated with the card's mechanics. Like other promos in this set, the design choices were guided by the Creative Team at Wizards of the Coast, aiming to provide collectors with a stylized, cohesive look that distinguishes the promo versions from standard pack-inserted cards.
