Where it came from
Expedition Map was first released in the 2009 Zendikar expansion, designed as an uncommon artifact to support the set's central theme of land exploration and landfall mechanics. Mechanically, it provides a reliable way for players to tutor for any land card, making it a staple in formats where finding specific utility lands is essential for deck consistency.
The artwork for this specific printing, which appeared in 'The List' as part of the Double Masters reprint cycle, maintains the original illustrative style by Franz Vohwinkel. His design captures the rugged, adventuring spirit of the Zendikar plane, emphasizing the map's role as a navigational tool in a world defined by its treacherous and ever-changing landscape.
