Faeburrow Elder

Faeburrow Elder was released as part of the Throne of Eldraine expansion in late 2019, a set heavily inspired by Arthurian legend and classic European folklore. This specific version serves as a promotional card, utilizing the extended-art frame treatment that became a signature aesthetic for high-rarity cards during this era of Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to function as a mana-producing engine that rewards players for diversifying their deck colors, reflecting the set's mechanical emphasis on multicolor permanents.

The artwork for Faeburrow Elder was commissioned from artist Wisner, who captured the ethereal, nature-bound aesthetic central to the Eldraine setting. By depicting the creature as a symbiotic guardian of the woods, the design aligns with the set's themes of enchantment and mythic growth. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its utility in Commander formats, where its ability to tap for mana of any color based on the number of colors among permanents under the player's control made it a reliable staple for land-heavy or multicolor strategies.
