Where it came from
The Magic Mirror was released in 2019 as part of the Throne of Eldraine set for Magic: The Gathering, a collectible card game produced by Wizards of the Coast. This specific iteration, bearing the collector number 51p, is a promotional version characterized by its unique 'extended art' frame, a design treatment intended to showcase the illustrative work across a larger portion of the card surface.
The art was created by illustrator Johannes Voss, who rendered the mirror with a distinct blend of dark fantasy and fairy-tale aesthetics, drawing inspiration from classic folklore tropes. Within the context of the game, the card represents an powerful artifact meant to reward players who cultivate a graveyard full of spells, fitting perfectly into the set’s broader theme of Arthurian legend mixed with Grimm's fairy tales.
