Faerie Guidemother // Gift of the Fae

Faerie Guidemother // Gift of the Fae was originally released in the 2019 expansion Throne of Eldraine, a set inspired by Arthurian legend and classic European folklore. This card is a notable example of the Adventure mechanic, which allows a creature card to function as an instant or sorcery before it is played as a permanent. The design by Wizards of the Coast aimed to capture the whimsy and narrative qualities of fairy tales, with this specific card embodying the trope of the helpful enchantress or fairy godmother.

The inclusion of this card in 'The List' is part of a curated selection of reprints that Wizards of the Coast inserts into their Set Boosters. These cards are pulled from Magic: The Gathering’s long history, ranging from influential competitive staples to thematic flavor cards. By featuring the original artwork and set iconography alongside a small Planeswalker symbol to denote its special reprint status, the inclusion allows newer players to encounter classic mechanics and designs from recent sets that have helped define the modern era of the game.
