Faith's Fetters

Faith's Fetters was originally introduced in the Invasion expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2000, serving as a staple white enchantment designed to provide players with a versatile tool for neutralizing creature-based threats. The card was reprinted in Core Set 2021 as part of a recurring effort by Wizards of the Coast to maintain specific functional effects within the game's rotating base set, ensuring that players have consistent access to reliable removal spells that bridge the gap between simple pacifism effects and more complex board control tools.

The art for the Core Set 2021 version was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who aimed to evoke a sense of divine restraint and binding magic. The design focuses on the visual representation of restrictive enchantments, using iconography associated with white mana’s themes of law, protection, and order. Upon its release in this core set, the card was received as a functional, classic inclusion that offered newer players an intuitive understanding of the color pie while providing limited environments with a necessary answer to powerful threats.
