Where it came from
Feather, the Redeemed was originally released as part of the War of the Spark expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2019. This specific iteration is the promotional version marked with collector number 197s, featuring unique artwork that distinguishes it from the standard set release. The character of Feather, a Boros Legion archangel, had long been a fan favorite due to her significant role in earlier Ravnica lore, and her inclusion in the set was highly anticipated by players who had waited years for a dedicated card representing her.
The card illustration was crafted by artist Izzy, who sought to capture Feather's resilient and commanding presence after her period of exile. The design focuses on her celestial iconography and the thematic elements of the Boros guild, emphasizing a sense of renewal and divine authority. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the player base for its distinctive mechanics, which allow for recurring instant and sorcery spells, making it a cornerstone for white and red commander deck strategies.
