Provenance

Where it came from

Fellwar Stone was originally released in the 1994 set The Dark, designed to provide players with a versatile source of mana that scales based on their opponents' land choices. It quickly became a staple in the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem due to its ability to act as a mana filter, allowing decks to access colors outside of their primary focus during multiplayer games.

The Pro Tour Collector Set, which includes this version of the card with the identifier pp319, was produced to showcase competitive-level cards from the game's early years. The artwork was provided by the late Quinton Hoover, whose distinct, painterly style defined much of the aesthetic of early Magic. His rendition of the Fellwar Stone features his characteristic use of light and color, emphasizing the mystical nature of the artifact as it sits at the center of a swirling, magical landscape.
