Where it came from
Field Marshal was released in 2006 as part of the Coldsnap expansion for Magic: The Gathering. As the third and final installment of the Ice Age block, Coldsnap was designed as a nostalgic throwback to the mechanics and flavor of the 1995 Ice Age and 1996 Alliances sets, intended to complete the narrative arc of the frozen world of Dominaria.
