Provenance

Where it came from

Fierce Empath was originally released in the Scourge set in 2003, later appearing in the Commander Masters set as collector number 288. It was designed as a green creature card that facilitates deck consistency by allowing players to tutor for a high-cost creature upon entering the battlefield. This utility has made it a staple in the Commander format, where players prioritize cards that provide reliable access to game-ending threats or essential utility pieces.

The card features artwork that emphasizes the naturalistic, instinctual themes common to green-aligned cards in Magic: The Gathering. As part of the Commander Masters set, this printing serves to increase accessibility for players seeking to optimize their high-lander decks. The design reflects a long-standing tradition of 'enter the battlefield' effects that define the pacing and strategic depth of casual and competitive Commander play.
