Where it came from
Fiery Encore was released in 2021 as part of the Prismari Performance deck for the Magic: The Gathering Commander set. The card was designed to embody the artistic and chaotic essence of the Prismari college from the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion, focusing on the mechanical theme of spell-copying and red-aligned damage output.
The artwork was illustrated by Games Workshop artist Anna Steinbauer, who utilized the bold, expressive color palette characteristic of the Prismari aesthetic to depict a spectacle of pyrotechnic display. The card was well-received by players for its ability to convert discarded cards into targeted damage, serving as a versatile tool for red-based control and storm-style strategies within the Commander format.
