Flooded Strand // Flooded Strand

The Flooded Strand card from the Zendikar Rising Art Series was released in 2020 as part of a specialized subset of Magic: The Gathering products. These cards were designed specifically to highlight the intricate illustrations from the main set, often appearing as oversized or borderless cards that serve as display pieces rather than traditional game-playable versions. They were distributed in collector boosters, catering to players and collectors who prioritize the aesthetic mastery of the game’s visual library.

The art featured on this specific card is credited to artist Titus Lunter, whose work is characterized by dramatic lighting and expansive, atmospheric landscapes. In the context of Zendikar Rising, Lunter’s depiction of the Flooded Strand aims to capture the plane's unstable and otherworldly geography. Upon release, the Art Series cards were generally well-received by the community for their high-quality printing and the opportunity they provided to appreciate the card art without the clutter of standard frame typography.
